The first episode of Netflix new true crime documentaries“The worst ex ever,” describes the case of a violent criminal Benjamin Fosterwho held his ex-girlfriend hostage for three days.
Netflix is a leading producer of true crime documentaries, often focusing on gruesome murders or bizarre crimes.
This time, the streamer took an unusual step in the form of a partnership Blumhouse for “Worst Ex Ever,” a production company best known for horror films including Jordan Peele’s “Get Out,” M. Night Shyamalan’s “Split” and “M3GANEach episode of “Worst Ex Ever” focuses on a different offender.
The first episode charted Foster’s pattern of abusive behavior. A woman named Jaimee, who dated Foster for about two years, described how he drugged her, shaved her head, held her captive in her Las Vegas home for two weeks and threatened to kill her.
After convincing him that they needed groceries, she escaped and fled to the hospital. In the document, she said the hospital treated her for “seven broken ribs, two black eyes, bruises all over her body, lacerations all over her body” and other injuries.
Foster has been charged with kidnapping, assault and domestic violence, according to the documents. He was released from custody in October 2021 and moved to Grants Pass in southwest Oregon.
In the second half of the episode, bartender Justine Siemens explained how she met Foster when they worked at a bar in Grants Pass. She reported him to her boss in December 2022 after he asked her for a clean urine sample, and he was fired.
In late January 2023, Foster holed up in Siemens’ home and beat her for three days, causing her brain injury.
She said in the documents: “Torture is an understatement of what I went through.”
Siemens was discovered by a friend who called an ambulance. But Foster had already fled the property and gone on the run for a week.

Foster used dating apps to trick unsuspecting victims to help him elude authorities in southwest Oregon, and police have offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to his arrest.
On January 1, 2023, Foster murdered an elderly man, Richard Barron, and his caregiver, Donald Griffith, in their home, which was 700 feet from where Siemens lived, according to the documents.
Foster was found by authorities hiding in Siemen’s home later that day and obtained a warrant to enter the property.
During the standoff, officers used tear gas and drones to try to lure Foster out, but quickly realized he was hiding under the house itself.
CBS reported that Foster had “burrowed deep under the house.” He died by suicide and the police had to pull up the floorboards to retrieve him.
